Harry Potter

Well everyone emphasis on the one I just saw Harry Potter and the half blood prince. Hmm. I liked it I really genuinely liked it. Not blog worthy for most but I am a known Harry Potter not hater well maybe yes hater is a good word. I couldn't bear the first hundred pages of the first book so I didn't even attept 2-7. I stopped watching the movies after the third one (lost touch with my only diehard Harry Potter fan friend) and so I was surprised. It was mostly easy to follow, I knew what was going on and I actually enjoyed it. Maybe I am getting a more wizard magical taste for books I should probably try reading again.

  1. Can you say what you didn't like about the first 100 pages? There are lots and lots of pages of Harry Potter in all seven books. If you know why you didn't like the beginning, though, I could probably tell you if it is worth your reading the rest. I like them a lot. I am thinking about reading them all again consecutively. The problem is I never have enough time to read as it is. I would probably need about two weeks free to read straight through all 7. I do think if you liked the movies you'll like the books better, because you get so much more depth.

  2. No I don't think that I put my message very clearly. I was quite surprised with the movie because I thought the first three were pretty weak the first hundred pages just didn't capture my attention and make me want to read on. The movie was significant and must be pretty good if a strictly twilight lover :) actually felt it was worth my money.

  3. And for spoilers sake I still have about 150 pages left of breaking dawn so be careful if anyone comments back ruining the ending. I will be very upset and I might not even blog for like a month :) haha.

  4. I haven't read any Twilight books, and don't plan to, even though I have heard very good things about them (time constraints, again). If you did not like the other Harry Potter movies, I wouldn't bother with the books. I thought the Half-Blood Prince was pretty weak as a movie, although I did enjoy it. The book has a few events supported by lots of backstory that I found interesting and important. The movie, at 2 1/2 hours, covered only the events themselves -- with less intensity than the books -- and barely touched on the backstory/history. I have heard that the seventh book will be two movies and I think that is a good idea. This book might also have been better told in two movies.

You (we?) had been discussing self-identity. ALL my life, I would have characterized myself as a reader. I have never been without a book. It is very sad to me, and a lot like losing myself, to realize how rarely I read anymore.

I love the internet, but it takes too much of my limited time. And although I "read" stuff online, it is not really the same as getting lost in a book, is it?

  5. no indeed it is not i love really getting into books especially series but i hate when it ends i feel like there is an empty spot where the characters used to be lol i just finished the "twilight saga" haha and loved every word of it its kind of ironic though because the original twilight was my least favorite and i didnt get into it that much until new moon probably because it was the fact that i could put a face to all the characters after the movie
